The cultural exhibition and an international cultural dress show were part of the two-day “23rd International Cultural Week” at the Faisal Masjid campus of the International Islamic University.


A press release issued by the university said that the second and final day of the event started at noon on Thursday after arrival of Malaysian High Commissioner Dato Ahmad Anwar Bin Adnan, who was the chief guest.

Prizes were awarded for the cultural stalls, dress show, sports and other co-curricular activities.

Students portraying China in the cultural stalls came in first. Saudi Arabia came second and Malaysia third.

China came in first in the food items, with Jordan coming in second and Turkey third.

In the dress show, China again took the first spot, while Somalia got the second position. Kenya was third.

At the national level, Punjab stood first in the cultural stalls and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa stood second while Gilgit-Baltistan stood third. A consolation prize was given to Afghanistan.

Aisha Rasheed was declared the best athlete for 2011. Prizes for co-curricular activities were also
given to the students in various competitions which were held as a part of the cultural week.
