Karachi killings: 12 more gunned down

Several others reported injured in incidents of firing across the Sindh metropolis.

Twelve more people were shot and killed while several others were reported injured on Friday in another violent day here in the provincial metropolis.


Anwar Hussain, 25, son of Ameer Niaz, was killed in Landhi by unidentified gunmen near the Mohammaden Ground. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy and then handed to his family. No police case had been registered by the time this report was filed.

The bullet-riddled body of Adnan, 25, was found near Azizabad Bridge in the limits of Azizabad police station. Adnan lived in the area and had gotten married eight months ago. His body was sent to ASH for medico-legal formalities.

A man identified as Nazar Muhammad, 38, son of Jan Muhammad, was shot dead in the limits of Federal B Industrial Area Police Station. Police said Nazar was sitting in his shop near the Sohrab Goth Flyover when unidentified gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on him and fled. He died at the scene. The body was shifted to ASH for postmortem. The victim was a resident of R-16 Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth. The police registered an FIR against unidentified armed men.

A 20-year-old named Siddique, son of Usman, was shot dead by unidentified armed men inside his house near Ghafoori Chowk in Mawach Goth. He died on the spot. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family.

ASI Saeed, a duty officer at Maripur police station, said that the motive behind the killing seemed to be personal enmity. The police registered an FIR against unidentified attackers on the complaint of the family.

The body of a young motorbike mechanic riddled with bullets and bearing torture marks was found near Noorani Bus Stand in the limits of Napier police station. Police said that Mohammad Irfan alias Bholo, son of Ramzan, was abducted and then killed. A duty officer at Napier police station said that Irfan ran a mechanic shop in Bheempura and had not returned to his home in Soldier Bazaar after work on Thursday night.

Another young man was shot dead in the Korangi 2-1/2 area, police said. Imran, 25, son of Ramzan, was gunned down near Korangi Link Road. He was originally from Okara and used to work in a garments factory.

Two men were shot dead in separate incidents in Sachal Goth police station jurisdiction. A man identified as Fazal-e-Haq, 22, son of Mohammad Shoaib, was shot dead in the Sachal area, police said. He was a resident of New Chali in Quaidabad. No case could be registered as the family refused to allow a post-mortem, police said.

A bullet-riddled body was found near the post office in Gulzar-e-Hijri. It was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. ASI Aftab, a duty officer at Sachal Goth police station, said that the identity of the victim could not be ascertained. The body was later moved to the Edhi Morgue.

Another man was killed by firing in Orangi Town in the limits of Iqbal Marker police station in the early hours of Friday. Police said that unidentified armed men had fired multiple shots at Aleem Shah, son of Wazeer Khan, in Orangi Town Sector 11 ½ , killing him instantly. Aleem used to run a tyre puncture repair shop in the area and was a resident of Toori Bungash.

An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) who was injured in gunfire on March 21 succumbed to his wounds at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Kamran Shams, son of Shamsul Haq, was an activist of MQM Unit 118 of Orangi Town, police said.

An activist of the Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi’s Amir Khan group was killed near Jauhar Morr in the limits of Sharae-Faisal police station, police and party sources said.

Police said that Sabeeh Khan, son of Azam Khan and nephew of MQM-H chairman Amir Khan, was shot and killed in his car by unidentified gunmen riding on a motorbike near Jauhar Morr. He died at the scene. He was a resident of Malir Cantt. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Cautious | 13 years ago | Reply You have one of the largest/expensive armies in the World - it's not fighting the Taliban or India - why not put it to use. Pakistan is suppose to be a Democracy - in a Democracy your suppose to occasionally turn off the TV/Internet and go down and ask your representative to get off their duff and stop the violence in Karachi. Try it sometime.
