UET renames stadium after Junaid Jamshed

Decision was taken to recognise the services of Junaid and his work as an artist and later as a religious scholar

LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has renamed its university stadium as Junaid Jamshed Stadium in honour of the singer who died in a plane crash near Havelian last month.

A statement issued by the university said the decision was taken to recognise the services of Junaid and his work as an artist and later as a religious scholar.

An enduring memory: A conversation with Junaid Jamshed

The deceased studied mechanical engineering at the university.

The decision was taken unanimously in a meeting chaired by UET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid in recognition of Junaid’s services.
