Baloch missing persons: Mutilated bodies of political workers found

Two more mutilated bodies of Baloch political workers found in Gwadar district.

QUETTA: Two more mutilated bodies of Baloch political workers have been found in Gwadar district, sparking protests by residents against the killings of political opponents.

The bodies found on Wednesday were dumped near the coastal town of Ormara. In protest, residents observed a complete shutter-down strike in Turbat, Gwadar, Pasni and some other areas.

One of the deceased, identified as Mehboob Wadela of Baloch National Movement (BNM), disappeared from Karachi in April last year. The other body was identified as Rehman Arif’s, who was a member of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP) and was abducted four months ago from Gwadar.

Hospital sources said the bodies bore bullet wounds and marks of torture. A Levies official said that bodies were spotted by passers-by who informed the Levies Thana in Ormara. Officials took the bodies to a nearby state-run hospital for autopsy.

The families of Wadela and Arif had held several news conferences and demonstrations in Karachi and Quetta, and suspected security forces and agencies of involvement.

As news spread that more bodies had been recovered, the BNM, the BRP and the Baloch Students Organisation-Azad called for a shutter-down strike. Most shops and trade centres in the Makran division were closed for the day.

According to NGO Voice For Baloch Missing Persons (VFBMP), as many as 101 bullet-riddled bodies have been found in the past seven months. All the bodies have been traced to Baloch missing persons or political opponents.

VFMBP says that as many as 13,000 people are listed as missing from Balochistan alone, but the organisation has complete data of only 1,100 missing persons.

Usman Balcoh | 13 years ago | Reply @ kamal mr kamal , first u must knw that wts going on in balochistan is not bcoz of any single man but of many like BLA, BRA, and others , i belong to awaraan and was member of BLA bt i left it looking at its genocide, i know them that they kill them to create frustration in pakistan. i am baloch of awarran and so i knw that majority of people knows this game by bla , we balochis along with thousand of other balochis are with pakistan. its our state and nation. i knw BLA will join the political scene in pakistan. long live pakistan n its entities.

kamal baloch | 13 years ago | Reply it show the fascism and barbarariat in 21 century, which called century of civilisation ,freedom and equalance and justice.it show the the direct genociding of baloch nation, and first of all to finish and kill yje leaders , intelectuals,writers and political workrs and advocates which are arising thr voice of baloches for their rights, and against fenocide of iran and pakistan fascism in 21th century.they want to afraid by killing of peoples and disapearance, but bow baloch nation know we cant be together with pakistan which is looting from 63 years resources of valochistan and killing the baloch peoples.it is 5th army operation on balochistan.but we dont know why america , nato eotopian union and saudi arabia is helping the pakistan which help is going for genociding of baloch and other nations , and looting the natural resources of balochistan.it cant be continous.all cruel is their last. pakistan is also on his last stage. this country is country of contrdictions and conflkicts.it cant excist in 21th century, where nations are getting theirs freedom.we hope baloch nation ans also other nations get theirs freedom from militry state of pakistan like bangladesh.
