ABBOTTABAD: Police have yet to arrest a man who escaped after gunning down his sister in a remote village in Abbottabad district.

Mangal police have registered a criminal case against Faisal Hayat, a resident of Tarhana village, on a complaint filed by his mother Fareeda Ayaz on Monday.

According to the FIR, Neelam Bibi was married to a man in a neighboring village but moved back in with her parents two months ago after developing some differences with her husband.

On Monday evening, Faisal told Neelam to  return to her husband’s home, but she ignored her brother’s wishes. Faisal then shot her with a pistol, according to the complaint.

Neelam died on the spot and the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident, police said. The accused was still at large when this report was filed.
