Showcasing their talent: Pakistan A cruise to simple win over Zimbabwe A

KARACHI: Three-wicket hauls by right-arm pacer Ehsan Adil and left-arm spinner Muhammad Asghar, along with a Umar Amin half-century, guided Pakistan A to a simple six-wicket win over Zimbabwe in their first one-day at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe A yesterday.

Put in to bat, Zimbabwe A were dismissed for just 197 in 48.3 overs as Asghar took three wickets in his 10 over for 36 runs while Adil took 3-37 in 9.3 overs.

Zimbabwe’s Tarisai Musakanda (51) and Sikandar Raza (40) — who recently took part in National T20 Cup representing Lahore Whites — were the top scorers for the hosts but there was precious little on offer from the other batsmen.

The lower order was particular culpable as no batsman outside the top five managed to even reach double figures, leading to a mini-collapse that saw the hosts go from 132-3 to 197 all out.

Chasing 198, Pakistan lost their openers Zaman (19) and Jaahid Ali (19) relatively cheaply before skipper Sohaib Maqsood was also dismissed for just 12.

Amin, however, ensured that there were few hiccups to follow and his serene 86 off 122 balls took the game away from Zimbabwe.

He was ably supported by Saud Shakeel, who was run out for 32 as the two left-handers combined to put on a 78-run stand that took the game away from Zimbabwe, with the visitors reaching the target with five overs to spare.
