KARACHI: Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has deferred the collection of sales tax on services (STS) from Cable Operators Association of Pakistan (CAP) in the interest of people using cable service. He made the decision during a meeting with a CAP delegation led by its chairperson, Khalid Arain, vice-chairperson Ghufran Mujtaba, president Akhlaq Ahmed, joint secretary Zahir Ali and information secretary Lala Lateef. The CAP office-bearers said that the burden of sales tax on cable operators will pass on the poor customers watching TV channels through their cable connections. On this, the CM issued directives to the Sindh Revenue Board to hold collection of STS and take the matter to its board meeting for final decision. The CM said the cables distribution system with bunches of unravelled cables hanging on poles spoils the look of the city.
