Nonconforming use: CDA seals 11 more houses

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) sealed another 11 houses in G sectors in an operation against non-conforming use of residential buildings.

According to the civic agency sources the operation was carried out by the Enforcement Directorate in the presence of CDA magistrate.

Majority of houses sealed by the CDA staff were being used as commercial hostels.

The CDA also sealed salon Toni and Guy operating from house 80, street 90 Embassy Road G-6/3.

According to the CDA , during the operation, two more houses including  a media office, located  in House 4, Street 36, G-6/2 and an office located in house 9, street 19, G-8/1 were also sealed.

Enforcement Directorate along with the Building Control Section and other concerned formations of the authority sealed eight other buildings, which were being used as commercials hostels including house 16,  street 37, G-6/2, was used as boy’s hostel.

Other premises sealed include house 14, street 90, G-8/2; house 158 street 3, G-8/2; house 290, street 3, G-8/2; house 1171, South Road, G-9/2; house 7, Neelum  Road G-9/3; house 160, street 73, G-9/3, and house 475, street 126, G-9/3. All these buildings were being used as commercial hostels.

The CDA had started this operation after Supreme Court’s orders regarding action against violators.

The CDA management had reiterated that the operation would continue till the complete elimination of non-conforming use in entire city.
