ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party submitted a resolution in the National Assembly on Tuesday condemning Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain’s recent anti-Pakistan speech and the attack on media houses by his party workers.

The resolution seeks to discuss the issue in the upcoming session of the lower house, scheduled to take place on Friday. Provincial assemblies, including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Punjab have already passed condemnation resolutions.

Hate speech: Pakistan sends reference to Britain against Altaf Hussain

The resolution strongly condemned the speech stating that “this House vociferously condemns Altaf Hussain’s anti-Pakistan speeches in recent days while addressing his party workers. His derogatory remarks against the country which gave him an identity and standing in national and international arena are totally unacceptable to each and every person loyal to this country.”

The PPP lawmakers further demanded that an immediate and stern action be taken against all those elements that were part of ‘treachery’.

The lawmakers maintained that they also disapprove of the attacks carried out against media houses and journalists after being provoked by Altaf Hussain, and demand that each culprit be punished.

“Pakistan is home to more than 200 million brave and patriotic Pakistanis who stood resolute and determined against every force whosoever intended to malign this country and will continue to do so in future as well,” the resolution concluded.

Separately, National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Law and Justice has adopted a condemnation resolution against the MQM chief.
