TRIPOLI: US warplanes on Monday carried out air strikes on positions of Islamic State in Libyan city Sirte.
“The first American air strikes on precise positions of the IS were carried out today, causing heavy losses... in Sirte,” said PM Fayez al Sarraj. Pentagon said the raids were launched in response to a request from the government.
