LAHORE: The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has once again hinted that it will observe a black day as it believes that government offices have failed to resolve the core issues of the industry.

“All assurances given to the industry to fix its problems in the federal budget 2016-17 have so far remained an eye wash,” said Aptma Punjab Chairman Sheikh Aamir Fayyaz at a press conference on Friday.

He said following the general body meeting of Aptma Punjab, it was unanimously decided to take up the issues with the government departments in August and in case of failure the industry would shut down the entire chain of units for a day in the last week of August.

He warned of closure of textile mills one day a week as a protest, adding at least 59 mills out of the total 250 in Punjab had remained shut in the last fiscal year.
