KARACHI: Pakistan’s last hope in the IBSF World Team Championship ended yesterday as Pakistan 1, comprising Asjad Iqbal and Babar Masih, were beaten 4-2 by Wales in their quarter-final clash in Sharm el-Shaikh, Egypt.

Pakistan 1 started strongly as they won both of the opening frames to take a comfortable 2-0 lead.

However, they could not maintain the momentum as Wales mounted a comeback and took the next two frames to equalise the match.

All eyes on Asjad and Sohail

With the scores level, Wales upped the ante some more and won the next two frames as well, ousting the Pakistani side with a scoreline of  07-89, 35-75, 73-30, 66-17, 58-17, 75-17. Iqbal and Masih’s dumping from the championship marks the end of Pakistani journey in the competition as the other team had crashed out in the previous round.
