Fearsome fire Godown reduced to ashes near Sabzi Mandi

KARACHI: A fire broke out at a godown on Thursday located off Super Highway near Sabzi Mandi, reducing the entire building to ashes. No human casualties were reported but the godown’s inventory was completely destroyed.

According to SITE Superhighway police station SHO Asmatullah Marwat, the fire occurred at around 2:30am at the godown where empty wooden crates to carry fruits and vegetables were stored.

The fire brigade rushed to the spot, however, the intensity of the blaze kept increasing, he added, saying that the fire was completely extinguished around seven hours later, in the afternoon.

The entire inventory in the storeroom was completely gutted, said Marwat. He added that the building’s watchmen were saved due to their vigilance, as they discovered the fire in its initial stages and immediately reported it to the rescue services.

The area where the facility is located is a few kilometres distance from Sabzi Mandi.
