LAHORE: A Supreme Court (SC) bench on Monday expressed dismay over an inordinate delay in the allotment of plots to two citizens. The court summoned the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general in this regard.

A two-judge bench, headed by acting Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, heard two petitions filed by King Edward Medical University Vice Chancellor Faisal Masood and one Ziaul Haq. Representing Masood, Advocate Chaudhry Yaqoob submitted that in 1990 his client had purchased a one-kanal plot in the area that was later included in Johar Town. He said the LDA had cancelled the plot and promised Masood that he would be allotted another plot. He said the LDA had still not allotted him the plot.

The counsel for Ziaul Haq, too, accused the LDA of not allotting a plot to his client for several years. The court observed that the LDA had become the most corrupt organisation in the country. It seems that it has a policy of humiliating citizens, the court said.
