LAHORE: DCO Capt (r) Muhammad Usman suspended Government Shahdara Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Junaid Shami on Wednesday over complaints about poor cleanliness at the hospital’s wards. Usman and some officials of the Health Department paid a surprise visit to the Shahdara Hospital where he checked doctors and paramedical staff attendance and stock of medicines. He reprimanded the hospital administration and asked health executive district officer to submit a detailed report on why such negligence had gone unchecked.  Separately, Monitoring and Evaluation District Officer Amin Akbar Chopra chaired a meeting of the District Quality Control Board at Town Hall on Wednesday. He heard 12 cases involving medical stores charged with selling sub-standard and expired medicines.  The meeting forwarded three cases to drug courts for further proceedings. The duration of sealing of seven medical stores was extended and cases of two medical stories were put off to be heard at the next scheduled meeting.  The meeting was attended by the health district officer, drug inspectors and members of the district quality control board.
