On court orders: All billboards removed, claims CBC

Billboards on private property do not flout the SC’s order

KARACHI: The Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has claimed to have removed all the billboards from their jurisdiction complying with the Supreme Court’s (SC) order. According to CBC revenue superintendent Faisal Khan Jadoon, there were as many as 292 different types of advertisements in the Defence Housing Authority, out of which 241 have been removed. For those that have not been removed, he said that they are on private property and do not flout the SC’s order. The SC had ordered removal of all the billboards from public property in the metropolis by June 30 and maintained that there was no law that permits installing outdoor advertising billboards and signboards on ‘public property’.
