Law enforcement agencies claimed to have killed eight terrorists in an encounter on Sharaqpur Road, Sheikhupura district, on Thursday.


Four terrorists had managed to flee. They said the terrorists had belonged to a proscribed organisation. They said had found maps of sensitive areas, two Kalashnikov rifles, four pistols, six kilogrammes of explosives and four motorcycles from them.


An official of the Counter Terrorism Department told journalists that at around 3am on Thursday morning, a group of 12 exchanged fire with law enforcement agencies near Chak 4, Risala.


They said the shootout had lasted around 40 minutes. The CTD official said that law enforcement agencies were on the lookout for the four terrorists who had fled into the dark.


The bodies of the eight men killed in the episode were taken to the Sheikhupura DHQ Hospital. A case has been registered with the Lahore CTD.
