PESHAWAR:

A campaign was carried out in several villages of Razmak subdivision of North Waziristan Agency by the agency surgeon to counter measles.

The initiative was taken on the directives of the political agent of the agency.

“At least 1,000 children were vaccinated during a three-day campaign that began on Saturday,” North Waziristan Agency Surgeon Dr Hameedur Rahman told The Express Tribune on Monday. “Children were vaccinated in Dosali, Mosaki and Asad Khel.”

He added they also arranged medical camps at three different places in addition to reaching out to children through four special mobile teams and vaccinating them.

The vaccination campaign against measles commenced after Asma, a three-year-old girl lost her life and three others contracted the epidemic, Rahman said.
