KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) called on Friday a rejoinder from the lawyer representing Dr Asim Hussain as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) claimed to have evidence about the former petroleum minister's involvement in a graft scam.

In a report filed before the division bench, the NAB authorities said the bureau had filed a reference against Dr Asim in corruption scam worth Rs462 million.

Dr Asim had filed a petition challenging his detention by the NAB after the police investigation officer had recommended his release in case relating to 'harbouring and treating' criminals at his private chain of hospitals.

On Friday, the prosecutor filed a report on behalf of the NAB authorities, who claimed that they had solid evidence available to prove Dr Asim's involvement in the offence. Advocate Amir Raza Naqvi, who represented the petitioner, requested for time to read the report and file a rejoinder.
