HYDERABAD: In an effort to harness solar energy, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) has powered its central library and online information centre, a ground-plus-two structure, with a 50-kilowatt solar panel system. This is the second building, after the vice-chancellor’s secretariat, to go solar. The inauguration was done on Monday as part of an Earth Day event organised in collaboration with the Sindh forest department. The VC, Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili, said they aim to power the whole varsity with solar energy.
