KARACHI:

Pakistan’s Mohammad Waseem’s win against Indonesia’s John Bajawa last week allowed him to improve his ranking from 14th in the Asian Boxing Council (ABC) last month to fourth.

Waseem, who has remained undefeated since his switch from amateur to professional boxing in October last year, first broke in the top-15 in the flyweight category after winning his second bout.

The win over Bajawa saw him jump 10 places and manager Andy Kim believes the 28-year-old will be challenging for a continental title soon.

“We’ll be moving him faster now,” said Kim. “He should also be competing for the Oriental and Pacific titles and we are planning our next fights accordingly.”
