A 19-year-old who hails from Swat has emerged as an international kick-boxing champion.

Yaseen Khan has clinched two international light and semi-light titles in under-19 competitions held in South Africa and America recently.

Yaseen hails from Manyar in Swat and is currently living in South Africa. He began kick-boxing in South Africa four years ago and won the under-19 national championship in 2014.

While talking to The Express Tribune, Fazal Azeem and Ameer Zeb, locals from Manyar, Swat, said, “Yaseen has made the nation proud and he needs our support to play for Pakistan now.”

When asked, Yaseen said he is ready to play for Pakistan but he cannot do it alone.

“I am ready to play for my country but I need the government’s support,” Yaseen said.

He also plans to open a kick-boxing training centre in Pakistan to help others learn the sport.

Khurshid, the 19-year-old’s uncle, said Yaseen is extremely talented and should be given an opportunity to excel in the sport in his country.
