BAHAWALPUR:

A woman was killed, allegedly by a suitor and his father and brother, in Khan Laar village near Khanpur tehsil on Saturday night.

Police said they have arrested the main suspect. Police said Saeed Ahmad had been courting Bahaar Mai, 40, a widow. They said that he had sent a marriage proposal last week which she had declined. Police said on Saturday night, Bahaar Mai was at her home when Ahmad, his brother Shahbaz and his father Gulzar forced entry into her house and beat her up. Police said that Ahmad strangled her and fled. Police said they took the body to a hospital for post-mortem examination and later handed over the body to the victim’s family. They said that they had managed to arrest Ahmad and were interrogating him. Gulzar and Shahbaz have gone into hiding, they said. “But we will hopefully arrest them soon.”
