ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan (KA&GB) unanimously recommended representation of the upper house in the National Kashmir Committee.

The Senate’s Standing Committee on KA&GB in its meeting held on Wednesday passed different recommendations with Professor Sajid Mir in the chair.

The committee suggested that all UN resolutions regarding Kashmir issue should be compiled in the form of booklet and made part of national curriculum. The panel also emphasised upon Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expedite its efforts at international level for implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir.

The committee members said that Kashmir Solidarity Day should be observed with national fervour across Pakistan besides AJK and G-B on February 5, to send a message that the whole Pakistani nation is united for the Kashmir cause.

During the meeting DG Foreign Affairs for South Asia Dr Muhammad Faisal while briefing committee members about Kashmir policy said that Pakistan seeks solution of Kashmir issue according to UN resolutions offering right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people through plebiscite.

He said that Pakistan believed that all unsettled issues between two countries can be resolved only through dialogue.
