LAHORE:

Misri Shah police said they had recovered a 20-year-old woman on Monday night, one and a half years after she had been reported missing.

SHO Shabbir Hussain said the woman, a resident of Riawind City, had “eloped with Nadeem one and a half years ago”. He said Nadeem had married her but later abandoned her at Data Darbar. “She then came across Ghazanfar and his wife Perveen who took her to Gujranwala and forced her into  sex work,” the officer said.

“They would beat her whenever she would try to run away. They also shaved her head,” the SHO said. He said that they had also made her undergo an abortion.

After a few months, they sold her to Boota, a resident of Karachi. “He took her to Karachi where she was again forced into sex work,” Hussain said.

He said Misri Shah police had stopped a car, she was travelling in, at a picket when she asked for help. Police have arrested Boota, his wife and another woman and have registered a case against them.
