KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, director-general Major General Bilal Akbar insisted that the Karachi operation is impartial and vowed to take it to its logical end.

He was talking to a 100-member Pakhtun jirga led by Awami National Party’s Sindh chapter chief Senator Shahi Syed at Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, headquarters on Saturday.

The Rangers DG welcomed the jirga and shared their performance during the ongoing Karachi operation. “Indiscriminate actions have been taken against the terrorists, target killers, extortionists, kidnappers and criminals involved in various heinous cases of crime with the help of the citizens of Karachi in the last 27 months of the ongoing operation in the city,” said Akbar. “Public support is also being increased with the positive results of the operation, and the citizens are sharing information with the Rangers on the 1101 helpline.”

Karachi operation will continue, says DG Rangers

A Rangers spokesperson said that the 100-member jirga lauded the efforts of the Rangers to bring peace in the city and also expressed their satisfaction over the Rangers’ performance. On the occasion, Akbar also appealed to keep an eye on the movements and activities of suspicious people, particularly refugees staying in Karachi.

IBN E ASHFAQUE | 8 years ago | Reply Karachi will be peaceful if the communities (Pukhtun, Punjabis, Mohajirs, Sindhis, Baloch) that live in Karachi are engaged in its peace. Karachi Police needs to be disbanded and community based Police should be developed with an Ombudsman that is affective and fair so that citizens of Karachi can get justice vis-a-vis the Police. If communities are not engaged by Rangers as the case is now; it is not a sustainable situation...........How long will Rangers do the policing of Karachi? and at what costs? these two policy questions need to be pondered before we are overtaken by events......
Atif | 8 years ago | Reply @Arabian Sea: and to add to that, it was organized by Shahi Syed who is well known for his hate speeches against the Urdu speaking community of Karachi, you can search Youtube to confirm what I'm saying, actually it seems that Rangers are taking sides and they are not impartial like what they been saying from the outset of this so called impartial Karachi operation, which is a very sad thing..
