MULTAN:

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has raised the allowance for polio workers, the Health EDO said on Wednesday.

According to the revision, the five-day allowance provided to polio workers had been raised from Rs1,550 to Rs2,050. Allowance for area in-charges had been revised to Rs4,000 from Rs2,969 and the council for union council in charges had been raised from Rs6,000 to Rs8,000.

The EDO told polio workers to revise the vaccination programme in Sharifpura due to construction being carried out in connection with the metro bus project and its streets being inundated with sewerage. The official had been earlier informed that the streets tended to get inundated after 11am.

The EDO then directed polio workers to wrap up work there before 11am.
