LAHORE:

Golden was the goal when it came to fashion at the Golden Globe Awards 2016 and the stars of the night did not fail to disappoint. As the glitterati of Hollywood turned up the glamour quotient at the first official red carpet of the season, each starlet eschewed the usual parade of old-fashioned flowy gowns, frilly frocks and crying-for-attention clothing. In fact, practicality was the order of the day, as almost none of the outfits required another person trailing behind the wearer. Our roving fashion radar gives a round-up of the three best looks of the night that kicked off a fashion-tastic 2016.

Kate Hudson

Hudson left little to the imagination in a dress from the Michael Kors Collection. Even though she wasn’t nominated for any award, the 26-year-old turned heads in a glittering pink gown that showed off her toned abs. She paired the racy number with sky high Giuseppe Zanotti satin platform heels and dewy make-up. Kate’s honey coloured locks were tousled and left open for the night.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence looked red hot in a striking Christian Dior dress that matched the red carpet at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. However, the best actress award winner was anything but blending in with her surroundings. With its tabard top, bare back and carved sides, the dress had incredible waist whittling effects. The diva elevated the block colour dress with a statement silver choker necklace and deep red lipstick. Lawrence opted for the classy, chic route, slicking her platinum blonde locks into a sleek updo.

Jennifer Lopez

Other than the style icon herself, not many can pull off a mustard-yellow outfit. Stunning in a Giambattista Valli gown, Jennifer Lopez’s 240 carat Harry Winston jewels ensured that her outfit wasn’t the only thing making a statement. Even though capes are going out of fashion, this fashionista made a serious case for them at the awards night. The sculpturally draped waist of the dress and the leg jutting out reminded us of the fit frame Lopez keeps herself in.
