Anti-polio drive: IG orders additional security

The IG also ordered effective mobile movement of police on motorcycles

KARACHI: More than 4,600 police personnel, including commandos, will perform security duties along with the existing force of Karachi police during the anti-polio drive starting from Monday (today). A report compiled by AIG operations Ghayasuddin Rashidi said 4,600 personnel from the Special Security Unit, Rapid Response Force, Sindh Reserve Police, counter terrorism department, crime branch, anti-encroachment cell, and several training institutes across the province will perform security duties. IG Ghulam Haider Jamali has directed all three zonal police chiefs of Karachi — East, West and South — to ensure security under the direct supervision of SSPs. He further instructed that police commandos be deployed with health officials in sensitive areas. The IG also ordered effective mobile movement of police on motorcycles.
