The passenger allegedly attempting to smuggle US$40,000 was taken into custody from Karachi Airport

KARACHI: Customs officials on Tuesday thwarted a passenger's bid to smuggle $40,000 to Dubai.

The officials restrained Zahid Khilji at the Jinnah International Airport as he was about to aboard a private airline's flight.

He was arrested on charges of smuggling the currency, the officials added.

FIA arrests two for illegally transferring funds abroad

Earlier on August 6, four men possessing 1.2 kilogrammes of gold biscuits were apprehended at Karachi Airport upon their arrival from Dubai.

Supermodel Ayyan was also held from Islamabad airport earlier this year for possessing $500,000, which she was allegedly smuggling to Dubai.
