‘Parties contesting against PPP under false illusions of its weakness’

HYDERABAD:

Different political parties  campaigning in Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) strongholds have false impressions that it has weakened, said the new Sindh information adviser, Maula Bux Chandio, on Monday.

"Different political parties are orientating themselves towards Sindh," he said, while talking to the media in Hyderabad Press Club on Monday. "They are under a false impression that PPP's popularity is fast ebbing in Sindh and that they can conquer the province."

These parties will not win support of the common people, said Chandio, referring to the first and second phases of the LG polls in Sindh in which the PPP candidates won a massive majority. The PPP chairperson, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and his father, Asif Ali Zardari, both are leading the party in the elections unlike the 2013 general elections when Zardari's role was restricted due to presidency, he pointed out.

He also took a jab at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan who, he claimed, is treading on a collision course in his politics that may harm democracy.

Chandio also criticised the PTI for violating the election code of conduct by organising rallies without obtaining official permission. "They accuse others but their own MNAs and senators are openly campaigning for their local government candidates," he said.

The adviser also lambasted the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. "The Sharif brothers have made it not only a regional party but the fact is that it is representing only a particular class of people in Punjab."
