What sparked your interest in singing and taking part in the reality show LG Awaaz Banaey Star?

I was actually offered backing vocals. From there, the producer/director of the show felt I needed to be in front so he took me in as a contestant.

What is the most important thing you keep in mind before recording a song?

I remind myself that I have to give the song my 100% cause after it goes on air, there can be no more changes.

How do you think the Pakistani music industry has changed over the years?

Well, it was great back in the 80s and 90s. After that, it became a little bad for a while but now it’s rising again.

What is the hardest part about working in the industry?

I think the hardest thing is that the industry needs one to be a go-getter. Also, the individual has to be good at what they do. You need to keep churning out good and creative stuff to stay relevant and that’s quite a task.

You were last seen singing in Coke Studio Season 8. How different is working on the show, as compared to playback singing for drama serials?

Well, both are great. The only difference is that when you sing live on Coke Studio, you have to give your best. During recording, one can make changes. But when you are live, you have to sing the whole song in one attempt. That is both nerve-wracking and incredible at the same time.

Any advice for aspiring female singers?

There is nothing one can’t do. Remember to work hard and most of all, believe in yourself.
