RAWALPINDI: Sadiqabad police on Tuesday obtained a seven-day physical for the custody of two alleged teenagers held in connection with the recent kidnapping and killing a 13-year-old boy.

Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Asif Majeed Awan handed over classmates Hamza Waheed and Zeeshan Ahmed to police for interrogation, and directed police to produce the two on December 1.

Waheed is said to be between 18-19 years old.

The police had asked for physical custody of the suspects for the murder of 13-year-old Mohsin Sagheer, whose body was recovered from a graveyard in the Sadiqabad on November 22.

According to police, Waheed is the son of the deceased’s paternal aunt. He was arrested by police on November 23, after eyewitnesses said the victim had been seen with him before going missing on November 21.

The police say preliminary investigations reveal that Waheed kidnapped Sagheer and later killed him with the help of Ahmed.

Waheed is said to have told police that he was angry with Sagheer’s parents over a property dispute. The suspect claims he killed the 13-year-old when Sagheer’s father did not arrange the ransom of Rs8 million.

The victim went missing on November 21 at around 1pm, while playing outside his house in Dhoke Kala Khan, near Islamabad Expressway. The same evening, Mohsin’s father received a handwritten ransom note.

The next day, police found Sagheer’s dead body at the ransom collection spot mentioned in the note. The discovery sparked anger among residents of the locality, who blocked the expressway and demanded justice for the victim’s family.
