KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued on Monday bailable warrants for the arrest a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officer, investigating a case of fake land entries. Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto ordered the relevant authority in the NAB to produce the officer on December 15.

Allahdino Mirbhar, a junior clerk in the land registration branch, had applied to the court for pre-arrest bail in connection with an inquiry initiated by the NAB.

"The top officers who are involved in the case are not being investigated," stated Mirbhar, adding that he, being the junior clerk, was being harassed by NAB officials. On November 9, the court had granted him pre-arrest bail with directions to the investigation officer to appear in court with a report. During Monday's proceedings, the NAB prosecutor requested the court to allow him time to file comments. Taking notice of the non-compliance of its directives, the bench issued bailable warrants for the officer’s arrest.
