Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja shunned former England captain Michael Vaughan’s comments regarding Pakistan's dismal batting in the third ODI as “cheap popularity.”

“Vaughan’s comments are highly irresponsible and I think he is just looking for cheap publicity to stay relevant on social media,” Raja was quoted as saying by a Pakistan Daily.

“Pakistan’s running has always been bad and we all know Mohammad Hafeez particularly isn’t great between the wickets. The team tends to panic whenever it is under pressure and it is nothing new,” he added.

Pakistan-India cricket will resume, says Ramiz Raja

On Tuesday, during the match in Sahrjah, Vaughan took to Twitter to criticise Pakistan saying, "Three run outs and a few iffy shots for Pakistan… Never seen that before…!!#PAKvENG."

But the former England captain did not stop there and went on to say, "They must all think we are stupid."

However, Raja was not the only one to hit out at Vaughan. The cricketer was forced to delete his tweets as social media users stormed his account to criticise him for his bias towards the men in green.

Pakistan won the toss in the third ODI and chose to bat first. The whole team was bundled out for 208 runs in 49.5 overs after the hosts saw three unusual run-outs.

England chased the target with six wickets in hand and gained 2-1 lead in the four-match ODI series.

The last match will be played on Friday in Dubai, where Pakistan will be looking to avoid another series defeat in the UAE.
