Reiteration: Payouts to deserving victims only: NDMA

Chairman of Natural Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Major General Asghar Nawaz has reiterated that all compensation claims should be duly verified so that relief is provided to genuine earthquake affectees.


During a visit to earthquake affected areas the NDMA chairman was informed that so far K-P has provided compensation to 223 dead and 426 injured, Punjab has provided compensation to 5 dead, Gilgit-Baltistan to 10 dead and 16 injured while FATA has compensated 28 dead and 143 injured, according to a press release.


The chairman was given a detailed briefing by the commissioner and deputy commissioner of Torgarh, DC Kohistan, commissioner Malakand Division and GOC/Brig Staff on relief measures undertaken by the local and district administrations in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to address the needs of the affectees.
