Celebrating music with the maestro’s

Arif Lohar is set to perform at the Engro Excellence Awards.

KARACHI: When we think rich costumes, tongs (chimtay) and soulful Punjabi folk music only one name comes to mind and that is Arif Lohar.  After witnessing the spectacular duet performed by Arif Lohar and Meesha Shafi at Coke Studio, fans all around the country brace themselves for yet another mesmerising break through.

The artistes are listed to be performing for the Engro Excellence Awards on Saturday in Karachi.  While Lohar made waves in the music industry with his hit song, “Jugni,” Ayesha Omer is a rising star in the field of music. Omer stole hearts as a host on a music channel has continued to diversify her career path by taking on acting in sitcoms, dramas and is now risking it all to plunge forth as a singer. Omer will be performing Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s “Lab Key Azad”,  at the event says, “ I am performing one song for sure and that is one of my personal favourites which  was originally sung by Tina Sani almost 20 years ago.” The artiste also updated us on her forthcoming album, which she has been working on for almost two and a half years and is now in its final stages of production, “ The album is like my baby, I have composed every song myself and given it my all. I am really looking forward to the release.”

Frieha Altaf , the producer of the Engro Excellence Awards told us “ It has been quite an honor working on the  EEA’s and its heartwarming to finally produce an event that appreciates and recognizes the contributions of our country’s biggest philanthropists and artistes.”

Shahi Hasan, the music producer of the event revealed the musical line up for the celebration, “ We are using a lot of versatile artistes that include Sanam Marvi, Fariha Pervez, Ayesha Omer and many more. The concept is to use music from different genres like classical, folklore, pop to create varying medleys with a contemporary take on classic songs by artistes like Tina Sani.”

Rumour has it that Arif Lohar and Ayesha Omer might be performing a special duet at the occasion. Watch out for further information on the industry’s hottest happenings. PR
