RAWALPINDI:

Judge of the Customs Court on Friday dismissed the petition of model Ayyan Ali for acquittal in the currency smuggling case.

The model appeared before the court of Judge Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan for hearing of the case. A petition for acquittal of the suspected had been deliberated by both sides and arguments had concluded.

The court had reserved its verdict on Wednesday. However, another petition was moved by the model’s counsel leveling allegations against Pakistan Customs for tampering the case record, and called for checking the record by a professional laboratory.

The court postponed the proceedings till November 12. The counsel for customs said the charge-sheet against the model would be submitted at the next hearing. He welcomed the dismissal of the acquittal plea.

The judge also stated that the suspect would be indicted at the next hearing.

Ayyan was arrested by the authorities in March this year.
