Kalat encounter: Three militants, FC man killed

QUETTA: At least three militants and a Frontier Corps trooper were killed following an exchange of fire in Kalat on Friday. The FC was conducting a search operation in the Giddar Valley when the encounter took place. “Militants from a banned group opened fire on FC troops, killed one soldier and injuring another,” an FC spokesman said. He added that the FC troops returned fire, killing three militants. Meanwhile, militants attacked a Levies check post in the Dastak area of Panjgur, killing one official. According to Levies sources, the militants stole the deceased official’s weapon before fleeing the scene. Separately, unknown assailants gunned down a man on Quetta’s Arbab Karam Khan Road on Friday.
