LG elections: PAT candidates to play opposition’s role

Hassan said that the party would not forget the sacrifices rendered by its workers in the Model Town incident

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) members and supporters who participated in the recent local government elections must now play the role of an effective opposition in their wards, Dr Hassan Mohiyuddin Qadri said on Wednesday. He was addressing a workers’ convention. Amjad Ali who won from Union Council 173 (Garhi Shahu) on a PAT ticket, was garlanded and applauded by the participants. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Chief Coordinator Major (r) Saeed Rajput, PAT Lahore secretary Arif Chaudhry and Raja Zahid also addressed the convention. Saeed said that PAT contestants deserved praise for braving government machinery during the elections. Hassan said that the party would not forget the sacrifices rendered by its workers in the Model Town incident.
