FC officer martyred in targeted killing in Miranshah
Police officials strongly condemn the assault, terming attacks on security personnel intolerable

An officer from the Frontier Corps (FC) intelligence wing was martyred in a brazen targeted killing in the tehsil headquarters of Miranshah in North Waziristan on Sunday, amid a surge in such incidents that have intensified concerns about deteriorating security in the region.
According to police officials, the martyred FC officer, identified as Nooruddin, was stationed at a checkpost when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on him. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
The injured officer was rushed in critical condition to the hospital at Tochi Scouts Miranshah, where he succumbed to his wounds despite medical efforts. His body was shifted to the hospital mortuary following legal formalities.

In the aftermath of the incident, police and security forces cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation, collecting evidence from the site. Authorities described the attack as a clear case of targeted killing.
District administration and police officials strongly condemned the assault, terming attacks on security personnel as intolerable. A senior police officer stated that the elements involved will not be spared under any circumstances. Security has been further tightened in the area, and those responsible will be arrested soon, they added.
Security forces have been conducting widespread counterterrorism operations, particularly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which border Afghanistan.
Last year in February, at least five people, including four Levies personnel, were martyred when their vehicle came under attack in Dera Ismail Khan district.

According to Daraban assistant commissioner, the Levies team was ambushed while en route to recover a stolen vehicle in tehsil Daraban. A private driver accompanying the officers was also killed in the attack.
In September 2025, six soldiers were martyred and 19 others injured during an attack on the FC Headquarters in Bannu district, while security forces killed six Indian-proxy terrorists in a daylong encounter.
The Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the military, said in a statement that the terrorists, belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Khawarij, had targeted the FC HQ in Bannu district in a cowardly attack.
