PESHAWAR: A division bench of Peshawar High Court suspended a notification issued by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) for collection of security or down payment for CNG from gas stations under Security Option-II. The court asked the gas company to submit its reply in the case. Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Roohul Amin heard the petition filed by owner of Arain CNG Station through Counsel Shumail Ahmed Butt. Butt told the bench SNGPL was already receiving security under Security Option-IV. However, now SNGPL has asked for increased security under Security Option-II by October 31, or else CNG owners would lose their connection. The counsel petitioned the court that this notification was illegal and CNG owners do not have enough funds to submit advance security to the company. The bench suspended the notification and asked SNGPL managing director and general manager to submit their replies in this regard.
