Murder trial transferred to Hyderabad court

Rangers personnel are accused of killing of Mir Nasir Talpur

HYDERABAD: The Sindh High Court on Monday has ordered the transfer of the trial of a murder case, in which five Rangers personnel are nominated, from Tharparkar to Hyderabad. The petitioner, Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur, brother of the slain Mir Nasir Talpur, maintained that he and other witnesses were facing threats while pursuing the case in a Tharparkar court.

Mir Nasir was shot dead in the rural town of Khensar on April 7, 2014. A police case was registered on the court's order, nominating inspector Muhammad Abbass and personnel Karamat Hussain, Mazhar Hussain, Abdul Razaak and Muhammad Khalil.

The Rangers claim that they fired shots at a vehicle approaching their post when it failed to stop, despite their warning. They also allege they were attacked. Two of the three persons with Mir Nasir were also injured and later arrested. They were also released on the court's order.

The family claims that deceased had gone to hunt deer and that they were attacked when they were returning home past midnight.
