LAHORE:

Neurologists and Dermatologists from the Lahore General Hospital will visit the Kasur district headquarters hospital every Monday to provide specialist cover at the hospital. This was decided at a meeting held at the Lahore General Hospital on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal. PGMI Principal Khalid Mahmood attended it.

Sumbal said the chief minister had recently visited the Kasur DHQ hospital and was appalled at the state of affairs there.

The participants decided to start telecommunication video facilities at the hospital for postgraduate students and consultants.

Mahmood said the schedule of visitations by LGH specialists to the DHQ hospital must be displayed at rural health centres and basic health units across the Kasur district. The doctors who had been posted at the RHCs and BHUs after being selected through the Punjab Public Services Commission but were deputed to the LGH for completion of postgraduate training should be posted at the DHQ hospital, he said.  The list of doctors who had completed postgraduate training would be sent to the health secretary, he said.

The participants said an adequate number of consultants had been posted at the DHQ hospital therefore the hospital administration must ensure round-the-clock gynaecology coverage.

The PGMI principal also proposed that postgraduate trainees be provided housing at the DHQ hospital.
