Man booked for marriage fraud

According to reports, Abubakar was discovered to have been married and also had two children from his first wife

ISLAMABAD: The Shahzad Town police have booked a man for marriage fraud. Iftikhar Ahmad, a resident of Chatta Bakhtawar, lodged a complaint with the local police that Abubakar had married his daughter, claiming that he was unmarried.

According to Ahmad, Abubakar was discovered to have been married and also had two children from his first wife.

In his complaint, Ahmed said Abubakar divorced his daughter when asked to explain the deception, and has refused to pay dowry. The police are investigating the case.

Earlier in June, a civil judge on issued arrest warrants for Pakistani film actor Meera, on an application filed by her ‘self-proclaimed’ husband Attiqur Rehman.

In his application, Meera’s husband claimed the actress married another man before legally divorcing him first. “She is committing fornication. It is against Islam and the law of Pakistan,” he said.
