Muhammad Din Colony: PTI hopes to ‘conquer’ PML-N stronghold

LAHORE: PTI candidates contesting the forthcoming local government elections in Union Council-129 say the party is set to “conquer” the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) strong due to the government’s failure to deliver. Residents say lack of clean drinking water, low pressure of gas, poor cleanliness standards, ill-lit streets and naked live wires are the chief problems bedevilling the area. Shafaqat Ali, the PML-N’s candidate for the chairmanship of the UC, is in the business of surgical instruments. He has also previously chaired the area’s Zakat Committee.

Syed Javed Shah, the party’s candidate for the UC’s vice-chairmanship, is a real estate consultant. Both are contesting elections for the first time. They say a girls’ school and a maternity and childcare centre are their foremost priorities. The candidates also promise to remedy other problems bedevilling the area.

Maqsood Awan, the party’s candidate for the UC’s vice-chairmanship, is in the business of logistics. Both are contesting elections for the first time. They say they will strive to ensure the provision of clean drinking water, streetlights and sewerage facilities in the area.


The number of registered voters in the UC stands at 17,395. It encompasses Muhammaddin Colony, Deputy Yaqoob Colony, Ghousia Colony, Aman Park, Shahab Park and Ibrahim Colony.
