We take a look at the couple's 10 months of marriage

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief, Imran Khan, and his wife Reham Khan decided to part ways Friday, after a 10-month-long marriage. Both Imran and Reham took to Twitter to confirm the news which sent the Twitter world into a frenzy.

Imran, 62, married 42-year-old Reham Khan, a former BBC weather host and a divorced mother of three, in January this year in a simple ceremony at his Islamabad home.



Here's a look at the major events which shaped their 10 short months of marriage:

Imran and Reham Khan tie the knot in Bani Gala - January 2015

The most talked about wedding of the season took place on January 9 with Mufti Syed having conducted the nikkah between Imran Khan and Reham Khan at Imran's Bani Gala residence. The event was a low key affair due to the Peshawar school massacre which took place just a month prior to the wedding.

The couple arrive in Peshawar to meet APS victims - January 2015

The PTI chief was accompanied by his wife as they arrived in Peshawar to meet with the victims and mourning parents of the December attack on APS students. Despite the best intentions of the couple, they were met with angry parents who refused to let him inside the premises of the school.

Reham Khan opens up about ex-husband, domestic violence - January 2015

Shortly after the couple tied the knot, Reham Khan opened up on her previous marriage to Dr Ijaz Rehman, 54, claiming she had been a victim of domestic violence.



Having never spoken on the matter, the 41-year-old broke her silence on her experience, saying she was not scarred by her experience of domestic violence.

The case of Reham Khan's 'fake' journalism degree - July 2015

Towards the middle of the year, a British newspaper called into question the educational qualifications of Reham Khan.

Reham kicked off her career at the BBC after studying a postgraduate course ‘in Broadcast Journalism at North Lindsay [sic] College in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, according to her own official website.



However, according to officials at North Lindsey, it has never offered such a course.

Political debut? - June 2015

By summer, Reham Khan was all set to make her political debut as members of the PTI hoped to ease her into office. Reports suggested that Imran was keen on seeing his wife play a more practical role in his party.

Reham Khan will not contest elections: Imran Khan - August 2015

Although Reham Khan had been actively campaigning for the PTI  during the by-polls in NA-19, Haripur, Imran Khan announced in August that she would not be contesting the elections.



“Reham Khan will hold no party position, no position in KP; nor will be given any official protocol," Imran said.



Imran rubbishes claims of marriage being 'on the rocks'

A few months after their marriage, reports surfaced claiming their marriage was in trouble. Imran immediately denied the reports and put all speculation to rest by terming the claims as 'slanderous'.

'Jemima running smear campaign against Reham' - September 2015

Imran and Jemima got divorced in 2004, nine years after their marriage but they remained on friendly terms. However, negative stories began appearing in the media against Reham in September which Jemima's cousin alleged Jemima was behind.



However, responding to the allegations, Imran said Jemima had always been supportive and rubbished the idea that she would ever be behind any kind of smear campaign against Reham.

Imran and Reham announce their divorce - October 2015

After a short marriage of just 10 months, the couple have decided to part ways and announced the news on Twitter.
