A 20-year-old woman was shot dead in the MPR Colony area of Orangi Town in what police suspect to be an honour killing. The deceased, identified as Sonia, wife of Rehmatullah, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) after the incident.
Initial investigations suggest that Sonia had reportedly left her home to marry of her own will. She later left her in-laws' residence and, upon returning, was allegedly murdered by her in-laws SHO Orangi Town Inspector Agha Aslam refrained from disclosing further details, including whether Sonia's husband was involved. However, police reported that Sonia had no children.
The SHO noted that MPR Colony is a high-crime area, and even police presence there is limited.
