Retaliatory Fire : Levies soldier killed in Ghallanai attack

During the search operation, militants opened fire on levies officials

SHABQADAR: A levies soldier was killed by unidentified militants in Haleemzai tehsil near Ghallanai, Mohmand Agency Tuesday night. However, a banned group claimed responsibility later via an email to the media.An official of the political administration told The Express Tribune on Wednesday, the deceased was identified as Ajmal Khan, a levies officer from Prang Ghar. “A levies check post in Ghaiba Khwar in Haleemzai was attacked by unidentified militants at 11:30pm on Tuesday,” he said. Following the incident, the levies force decided to launch a search for the attackers. “During the search operation, militants opened fire on levies officials,” he said. “As a result, Ajmal was killed in the exchange of fire.” Ajmal’s body was handed over to his family and buried in his ancestral graveyard. Wednesday morning, the political administration launched another search operation in Ghallanai and adjoining areas. However, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.
