HYDERABAD: The pressure to withdraw from the local government elections in Nawabshah compelled a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to attempt suicide on Tuesday. Gul Bahar Khaskheli drank a toxic liquid and fell unconscious. The family immediately shifted him to Peoples Medical College Hospital, where the doctors saved his life. Talking to the local media, Khaskheli claimed that his father-in-law and brother, who are government servants, were under pressure from their superiors to force him to withdraw from the elections. Khaskheli said that he has filed the nomination papers from ward two of the municipal committee in Nawabshah.
